I made quite a few scribbles and doodles in Luke 8 & 9, on quite a few different ideas, as you can see...
... but to save you from boredom and random tangents, I'm going to focus this post on my favorite point:
The Gospels tell us of a girl who was brought back to life by Jesus. People laughed at him, because while the girl was clearly dead, Jesus told everyone that she was only sleeping. He went to her, told her to wake up ("Talitha koum," He said), and boom. She lived.
I used to be this dead -- or sleeping -- girl. I lived for myself and for the world. I made selfish, ridiculous, irresponsible, dangerous decisions, and I have experienced some terrors in my life. There are some stories from my past that I'm not ready to tell, and other experiences that I may never be ready to share.
I lived a life that was all about impressing myself and impressing other people. Even my good deeds were done only to make me feel better about myself. I lived a worldly life -- without the God I thought I didn't need, and you guys, it's not worth it.
Then one day when Jesus called me to arise, I heard him. And so here I am today, alive in a new life, dedicated to Him.
Living life for the world isn't worth it. Live for Him.
PRAY: God, thank you for waking me up to the freedom of a new life in You. Guide my steps so I may live out this new life as an example of your resurrecting power over spiritual death.
RESPOND: Even some who believe in God and know of Christ the man may not truly know Christ the Savior. Have you been sleep-walking? What is one thing in your life that you can change to live more fully alive, free, and awakened?
