Question: What do you need to do to make it happen?
My Answer: Plan, write, schedule, repeat. Doodle, paint, letter, repeat. All between sips of coffee, of course.
I'm a member of The Peony Project, which is a group of women who love Jesus, and who happen to blog, either a little or a lot. Recently, one of the administrators asked the group what each of our dreams and goals were in regards to our blogs. Here's how I responded:
After I shared my dream for my blog with the group, I realized that I didn't mention the art or shop aspect of my blog, which I share the same vision for. I dream of opening an Etsy shop, allowing me to have more than one item available for customers to purchase. But opening an Etsy shop takes time, a lot of planning, a lot more time, and a lot more planning (for me, at least), and... well I wouldn't say that I've come to a roadblock, but this summer certainly has acted as quite the speed bump.
You see, I don't just want to be "a blogger". I want my blog to be a space that people escape to for a good word about Jesus or for a good word about how my coffee tasted that day. Because I may be introverted and shy, but I love to help and encourage people, and online I feel more free, or brave enough, to share my voice. To the handful friends I have "irl" (that's In Real Life, my dear reader), I am loyal, faithful, and solid as a rock. (That's what one person said, anyway.) And I want to be that friend to my readers, too. I want to be that friend you go to for e v e r y t h i n g. And I know my blog is a long way off from that for now, but my prayer is, simply, that I will reach you.
I want to speak to your hearts through my words and through my art. The rest can come later, whether that means income through an Etsy shop and the occasional sponsored post, or even if it means continuing to dream of the future while keeping everything just as it is, because I would be content with that as well.
Even still, I will continue to dream of the future. Because we're all allowed to dream. - Tweet This!
