I'm trying to write, but am so distracted right now by Demetri Martin's stand-up on Netflix. I don't typically like stand-up, but I saw Demetri on Conan once and he was pretty hilarious for those five minutes or so, so... yeah. I like him. He says some funny things, sometimes.
Anyway let me tell you what I'm up to really quickly here, on this last Wednesday in November.
Appreciating the time I get to spend at home with the baby (well, toddler, now). I wasn't a stay-at-home mom with our first one. In fact I had to go back to work after just twelve weeks, even after having had pre-eclampsia and a premature (induced) delivery, which ended in an emergency c-section. I had twelve weeks to recover from all of that, and as a first-time mother. (Only eight weeks of which were paid, if I'm remembering correctly.) It could be argued that I didn't have to go back to work, but at the time my husband was still in school, so, yeah, I kind of did have to go back. It was our choice, yes -- I shouldn't complain. I guess it just makes me even more grateful and more appreciative of the time I get to spend at home this time around. And the first-grader is out of school at one o'clock, so I have plenty of time with him, too.
Believing in my worth. In recent posts I've been really open about my struggles with self-doubt. I've been praying about it; God has been confirming and affirming some things for me lately, and I'm so thankful for the new perspective I'm gaining. I'm still a work in progress, of course, but I'm feeling better now about the progress made so far.
Hosting a four-week Advent Giveaway over on Instagram. You really should go check it out -- Week One is running now! There are four different sets of prizes being offered during each week of Advent, with a new winner announced each Advent Sunday. I continue to be blown away by the support of the ladies who are contributing prizes; there are some pretty amazing, generous hearts in this world.
Organizing practically nothing, because every time I put anything away there's a certain tiny human who swoops in after me to destroy the newly-organized corner of the apartment. Seriously. My husband and I have practically nicknamed Liam "The Destroyer", because of the destruction and havoc he wreaks all over the place. Jackson, our older son, was not like this as a baby. At all. We didn't baby-proof the house we lived in with Jack because he really didn't get into things he wasn't supposed to. (Lucky us.) Liam, on the other hand, requires many more chase-downs and... is there such a thing as a baby kennel? (I AM KIDDING. See my words on appreciating, above.)
Watching The Walking Dead (which I've been "eh"ing at lately), Homeland, Fargo, Supernatural, Life In Pieces, and Modern Family. Also, I heard a rumor that they were doing a reboot of The X-Files, so if that's a thing, you can add that to this list, too, for future reference.
Oh, my goodness. It is a thing. Look ⟶here⟵.
