Treat Yourself // My Favorite Self-Care Tactics

I was asked recently, how do you de-stress/take care of yourself? My initial responding thought was that it's simple: I make stuff. I hand letter, doodle, paint, journal, bible journal, etc. And while yes, all of that is therapeutic, relaxing, and fulfilling, it's not really a form of self care. I think not, anyway. Whatever. Maybe it is. What do I know.

And anyway, since I've already told you that making stuff brings me joy, I've decided to share some of the more frivolous, self care-y things I love!

At-Home Manicures

I have a ridiculous collection of nail polish -- all brands, all shades, and sometimes I even come home with a new polish only to find that I already have it. It's embarrassing. At least once a month, right before I paint my nails, I use the Beautifying Nail Kit from GRATiAE to keep my nails and cuticles healthy. Sometimes I even go without polish after using the kit because it leaves my nails so smooth and shiny that they look like they have clear polish on

Of course, like so many other people, my favorite brand is Essie. Right now my favorite shades are Chinchilly and Tea and Crumpets.

Reading

Okay, I don't really consider reading as frivolous, but when I get time to sit with a book and do nothing but eat up a good story for an hour or so, I feel like I'm breaking some sort of rule -- like I should be doing something more productive but am instead deciding to do nothing except to be entertained. It's fabulous.

Lastly, and most importantly:

So how about you? How do you enjoy spending your down time, when you have it? Let me know in the comments!
